When a situation troubles you

Over the past few months I've met with many people who struggle to bring their awareness into the now - their thoughts never stop or they feel such strong physical pain that they become easily distracted. Remember that these old patterns may have formed over many years. You may need patience, persistence and practice.

When a situation troubles you, find peace in letting go of the struggle. To use an example from Dr Russ Harris, if we were in quick sand, struggling would only make it worse. Keep bringing your awareness back by asking 'What's wrong right now?'. If you do this, you realize that in this moment there are no problems. By separating your troubles from each moment, you soon discover that the troubles pass, while the moment (or life) remains.
